Grand Taxis to Chefchaouen
One of the Best ways to get to Chefchaouen
Chefchaouen doesn’t have an airport, so every visitor has to arrive overland. Grand Taxis (covered in more detail here) leave from the Bus station in Tangier and Tetuan, and from the taxi stand near the Spanish church in Chefchaouen. You’ll need to take them in two stages, both costing 25 Dh per seat. You may want to get two seats and enjoy the extra space. The first stage is from Tangier to Tetuan, and takes about 45 minutes. From there you’ll walk down the row of taxis and pay for seats on a second taxi that takes you to Chefchaouen.
***Drivers will offer to take you there directly for a huge price (as much as 100 Euros), and insist that there are no taxis to Chefchaouen, don’t listen, just insist that you will go to Tetuan.
If you’re prone to motion sickness, then you might consider taxing a dramamine capsule before getting in the taxi in Tetuan. The road to Chefchaouen is really hilly and winding, and is notorious for car-sickness.
